The event included a panel of eighteen winemakers and three media individuals who tasted eight different Rieslings in sixteen different Riedel wine glasses through an elimination process.  George Riedel, the world renowned glass maker from Austria led the tasting at Sheldrake Point Vineyards. " The significance of his visit to the region speaks highly about how Finger Lakes Wines are making in roads in the minds of people all over the world." said Bob Madill, President of Finger Lakes WIne Alliance.   The workshop's goal was to  choose the best Riedel wine glass that would present the excellent characteristics and qualities of Finger Lakes Rieslings.  The glass chosen was the Vinum Riesling Grand Cru and can be ordered from wineries that carry Riedel glassware.
